Healthy Desert, Healthy You Summit: Driven by the Mind, Powered by the Heart.

At Somos and Seamos, we believe meaningful change begins with knowledge, compassion, and a genuine commitment to the people and communities we serve. So, when our clinic and nonprofit teams had the privilege of attending the third annual Healthy Desert, Healthy You Summit in Rancho Mirage, we felt a palpable and uplifting sense of continuing to work toward something profound and bigger than ourselves.

The summit brought together community leaders, health professionals, and residents, all united by a shared commitment to well-being and shining a light on those who are too often neglected, underserved, or left behind.

Our team not only had the opportunity to meet and begin developing relationships with other community agencies, but also to hear from leaders whose work re-ignited our passion for supporting neurodiverse families and the Coachella Valley community at large.

Some of the most powerful themes that emerged throughout the summit closely aligned with our own philosophy and values, particularly the importance of taking a collaborative and holistic approach to care.

We are committed to partnering with excellent providers and systems of care across the Valley, creating stronger connections between services and working closely with the families we serve. We believe that meaningful support does not happen in isolation. It happens when providers, organizations, and families come together to understand the whole person and build a network of care around them.

A culturally and linguistically responsive approach is equally essential. We are dedicated to supporting and collaborating with providers who are bilingual and already deeply embedded within the communities they serve. These relationships help build trust, increase accessibility, and ensure that families feel understood, respected, and represented within the systems designed to support them.

The Healthy Desert, Healthy You Summit was a powerful reminder that the work ahead is bigger than any one organization. By coming together, sharing knowledge, building relationships, and lifting up the communities that need support most, we can create meaningful and lasting change for all minds.

The work continues, and we are grateful to be doing it together. For Seamos, that spirit is at the heart of our mission.

As Dr. Yan Manuel Somoza reflected following the summit:

“The work we do is driven by the mind, but it is powered by the heart.”
